I want to get your take on the auto tune craze. Do you think it is good for hip hop or bad? With Jay Z's new song, "Death of the Auto-tune" one can only think that the sudden rush to use it will soon come to an end. Sound Off!

Bad for hip hop...that auto-tune device just allows "artists" (if you even wanna call them that) to hide flaws in their natural singing voice or their flow if they are rappin'. Now a lil auto-tune on a hook or chorus is fine, but artist like T-Pain and the "Birthday Sex" dude took it to a whole other level, now people, including myself are irritated with it...my 2 cents lol...

I think it's crazy how everyone chased this trend. Almost every song on the radio or on BET seemed to be autotuned, it gets repetitive and I always thought it sounded bad when it was covering up bad singing (rappers). I cringed through most of the songs with it, especially lil wayne's prom queen. OMG! Auto-tune will remain alive and kicking because people will try to make sure that what Jay-Z says does not go.

No death to the auto tune. if you not t pain u shouldnt use it. Ppl just started thinkin if i use it I might sound good too. Like T pain and lil wayne sound good with it.. But everybody else use it to much. And if you actually listen to a t pain cd.. he doesnt use it when he raps. only on the hooks. Listen to Karaoke by T pain. He killed it. so my opinion is no death to the auto tune. just everybody who aint t pain stop using it for an entire album and be original..

This Debate Is Crazy Cuz I'm Feelin Jay These Niggas T-Painin 2 Much!!!! But There Is A Few Songs Other Than T-Pains That Sound Good wit AutoTune. All That Rappin Wit AutoTune Is Just Ridiculous. Niggas Cant Make Up A New Flow So They Followin T-Pain Who Followed Big Roger But Thats Hip-Hop And Pretty Much Life period Yesterday Gold Daytons Today 20 Inch Rims Tomorrow 28's. This Shit Will Fade In Due Time. If U Know How To Use AutoTune And Make A Great Song Then Thats Whats Up. Remember IF U KNOW HOW 2 USE IT. Get Ya Game Up!!

I think auto tune is good if used the proper way like in the hook.. but we all know in order for a song to be good, it has to have more than just the vocals anyway. I listen to the lyrics, the beats and the style that it's sung in. So it would take a lot more than a tuned up voice to impress me. As far as it being bad for hip hop, I don't think so. Hip hop is already diversed with different styles as we already know.
